My Prayer for You

When Dan Johnson and I wrote this song, with Carole and Erin’s assistance, we had arranged it for four part harmonies in the chorus. New Day performs the song this way, as have Dan, his wife Erin, and me. In fact, I was so used to singing a tenor part that when JD selected the song for this project he asked what the melody was in the chorus. I couldn’t remember and wasn’t sure. JD forced me to pick a melody, and I wasn’t quite sure why. But he was hearing the song in a much more intimate, one-to-one kind of relationship of my prayer for you. He added a very beautiful cello arrangement to add a harmony part. I really appreciate JD’s sensibilities for the song and the interpersonal way that it is recorded for this project. It is my prayer for you.
