As I sat in prayer one day
Asking questions of my God
Why is this world torn apart?
Why is hatred filling empty hearts?
A message came which seemed to say
Something diff’rent, something odd

It just said, Be the Song
I wasn’t sure I’d heard it right
It didn’t sound quite whole
There’s so much turmoil everywhere
So many people in despair
I wanted darkness turned to light
With an answer for my soul
I asked for more, it’s not a lot
And this is what I got
Be the song that I sing
Be the joy a simple smile can bring
Be the hope, be the love
Be the miracle from up above
Be the hand in the hand
That lets all souls know they belong
