About Me

"Susan’s music will open your heart and penetrate your soul. Not only is her voice an extraordinary powerful instrument of the Divine, but the essence of her music, her words and the manner in which she delivers the goods will move through you and lift you, and, if you are open, will heal you. As a professional musician myself I know when a musician is "Being on Purpose". This lady is doing what she was born to; write and sing. Susan’s CD is one you will want to listen to over and over again — I do."

From the sounds in nature where I grew up to the mechanized noises and hum of the city I think I have always been aware of the constant rhythm and melody in which we are bathed. I have come to understand that by using the vibration of sound we can communicate with the mind body and spirit to restore balance and harmony.

In the 90’s as singer/songwriter with the popular musical group ‘Nickelfinger’ I shared stages with such notables as Sylvia Tyson Cheryl Fisher Cindy Church and Quartette and performed at a wide variety of clubs and festivals including the highly coveted Edmonton Folk Music Festival. For the past 4 years I have been a formal part of the Music Ministry at the Centre for Spiritual Living in Edmonton AB. But my real passion lies in writing recording and performing New Thought Music. Over and over people have shared with me how the songs have altered them in some way and I have been blessed to be the recipient of much gratitude. In a way it is my own feelings of gratitude that propel me to continue this journey.

Using sound and music in a Sacred and directed way makes sense to me! All vibrations from the most subtle to the most obvious have a specific effect on us emotionally physically spiritually and in ways to which we often don’t pay attention. Think of it – we know how much influence the sound track of a movie has on our feelings but we seldom consider the role sound plays in our daily lives. Just for fun take time to note how the sounds that are part of your whole day make you feel. By evening how will the sound you have absorbed during the day affected you?

My interest in music and wellness led me to study with the renowned Pat Moffitt-Cook Ph.D. at the Open Ear Centre in Bainbridge WA U.S.A. I am a practitioner in the use of Cross-Cultural Music & Therapeutic Applications Advanced Training.

I have also done volunteer work in an artist run program at the University of Alberta Hospital creating music and poetry with patients and I was a nurse in Geriatric Rehabilitation. Both of these provided opportunities to experience using sound and music in a clinical setting. And I have been called upon to make sound with people during their transition time – deep and profound work.

Always interested in the arts my history also includes arts marketing and publicity writing for several publications (including a wholistic health column) and many years enjoying the bliss of pottery and paper making! I continue to perform and record operate soundtouch offer private classes and workshops and accept public speaking engagements to promote awareness of Sound in Healing.
