About Me

Classically trained Eva Stokes wrote her first songs at 7 and competed to perform with the Denver Symphony at age 13. At 14 Eva became lead singer/songwriter for Denver prog rock band Gnu U & started recording her own material as well. Too young to play in bars, the band made videos and did TV appearances. All of the members of Gnu U went on to successful careers in music. At 18 Eva sold her Steinway & toured Europe and South East Asia solo. In London she was signed to Peter Brown’s label and recorded an EP produced by him. In 1991 a former member of Gnu U invited Eva to Los Angeles where they formed the rock band Kali Yuga. Eva also began working with producers Terry Wollman, Bill Meyers, John Philip Shenale, and Mick Guzauski to create a “signature” sound. Legendary music executive Arthur Mogull heard of Eva, came to one of her shows, and decided she would be the last big star created in his long career. After Mogull’s death in 2004, Eva decided to go independent and created The Infinity Rock Orchestra, which included members of L.A. band The BOLT (Breath of Life Tribe) and several master string players out of UNC Greeley. They made one album, which is still being worked on. In 2008 Eva won the Palm Springs Idol contest as the only performer who was singing original music. When asked by the judges why she did this she said “”I just wanted people to know I’m here.”” This led to nightly performances at the famous Copykatz Club in Palm Springs until it closed. After the club closed Eva moved to a remote desert location to write a book about her experiences “”Hollywood Bimbo which she has just self-published on Lulu.com. She is currently writing the sequel “”Joshua Tree Jezebel.”” Eva is also recording a new album with drummer/producer Phil Jones and guitarist Robert Davis of “”Revis”” and mixed by Robert and David Piribauer. It will be released in 2010.”
