About Me

In 1999, Karen was a single mom, waiting tables, teaching group fitness classes, and strumming her guitar in between working and caring for her son. It was at the restaurant she met Sean as a customer with his soon to be wife. They were regular customers, and Sean's family had requested Karen to be one of the servers at Sean's wedding rehearsal dinner at the restaurant. They learned in conversation that they both played guitar, so one night after Karen's shift, they played an open mic together at the bar across the street from her place of employment. Sean married soon after, and worked for his father at the family business, while playing in different bands. Karen moved with her son closer to Chicago and began recording demos and doing voice over work with a Russian production duo. Yet their hearts longed for something else. Then in 2003, about to move back to the suburbs of Chicago, Karen got an unexpected, and serendipitous phone call from Sean. His marriage did not work out, and he found her number while going through things in his house getting rid of stuff-he called to see if it was still a working number. It was, and after a flowing conversation, she invited him to a show she was doing at Uncommon Ground in Chicago. Soon after, they began playing together, and since they made such beautiful music as a couple, they decided after two months of dating to get married. Sean decided to quit the rock band he was playing with…and the rest, as they say, is history.
