Music with a deeper meaning is more than a slogan for Rod Kinny. It serves equally as a virtue and mantra. Rod Kinny redefines Singer/Songwriter to include eclectic and innovative songwriting with a passion for excellent studio production. After years of playing bass for rock bands in the Twin Cities area of Minnesota and a seven year exile, he was reborn in 2000 as a Singer/Songwriter.
With many years of musical experience Rod adopted a Brian Wilson type of approach to his music. Great attention to songwriting ensued to include elements of melody and a much expanded audio canvas to make his compositions multidimensional. Also along his journey Rod’s spirituality continued to unfold and expand bringing an awareness far above & beyond the confines of modern life. Much of his work and his life is about stepping out from the darkness into the light.
In 2007 Rod sought the services of Grammy award winning artist & producer Joe Puerta of Ambrosia and Bruce Hornsby & The Range. Three years later the result is now before you. “Higher Self” is Rod Kinny’s pinnacle of musical excellence and can indeed be defined as music with a deeper meaning.
