About Me

Award-winning singer/songwriter. Gifted instrumentalist. Meditator. Nature Lover.

“I’ve had wonderful party with Len Seligman’s songs! They are chock full of life, goodness, fun and depth. His bright, warm heart is a real transmission..the love just flows. I’m grateful that Len brings his great talent to serve in this creative, wonderful way!” – Tara Brach, Ph.D., best-selling author, psychologist, and meditation teacher

(pronounced “SELL-ig-min”) Inspired by the poet Rumi, songwriting greats John Lennon and Randy Newman, and the world music fusion of Ry Cooder, “Len Seligman’s music radiates joy. When you listen to him, you’ll find your spirit lifted to a higher, truer realm–and you may just find yourself dancing!” (IndependentArtistBuzz.com)

Len’s awards include:

  • First Place in several international songwriting contests, including the Great American (2015 and 2023), West Coast (2023), and Dallas (2021) songwriting contests
  • Finalist, Mid-Atlantic, UK, and West Coast songwriting contests
  • Finalist, Best Video, Positive Music (“Posi”) Awards
  • Nominated for four Washington (DC) Area Music Awards (“WAMMIES”)

Len’s most recent album, “Our Turn Now” (2021), rose to #4 on the Folk Alliance DJ album chart. The title track, Our Turn Now, is a moving tribute to civil rights icon John Lewis. Len wrote this song after being moved to tears by a recent pilgrimage to Selma, Alabama, where John Lewis, Jimmie Lee Jackson, and other heroes fought powerfully against oppression by getting into “good trouble.” It’s our turn now.

Len is a long-time meditator, student of multiple spiritual paths, and is active in interfaith work. His belief in the interconnectedness of all beings and the power of mindfulness and compassion inspire his music. He is currently in a two-year mindfulness meditation teacher certification program with much loved meditation teachers Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach.

Len is a thrilling improviser on guitar, octave mandolin, and other string instruments. Grammy-winning recording artist David Darling spoke of his “soulful, virtuoso playing.” After many years as a PhD computer researcher-geek, Len returned full-time in early 2018 to his first love of music.

In June 2021, Len and his wife Ella moved from Florida to Eugene, Oregon, where they love to explore the spectacular beauty with their Australian Labradoodle Teddy. Len shares his music throughout the Pacific Northwest in concerts, worship services, interfaith gatherings, and meditation retreats.
