About Me

Harold Payne is a multi-platinum and “Posi” award winning songwriter whose soulful uplifting songs and husky heartfelt vocals have graced stages around the world. He has written songs for such diverse artists as Rod Stewart, Patti Labelle, Kelly Rowland, and long time collaborator, Bobby Womack (literally from Peter, Paul & Mary to Snoop Dogg). His uncanny gift for improvising songs inspired by audience suggestions or speakers, makes each performance positively unique. He has also created custom songs for people like Regis Philbin, Mark Victor Hansen, Jeanne Houston. Although a major part of Harold Payne’s career has involved songwriting, he has maintained a performance schedule over several decades that averages 200 plus dates per year. In 2001 he launched the Power of Positive Music® series which led him to regular performances with various motivational speakers and he did recap improv songs on the main stage of the 2012 Nastional Speaker’s Association. In addition to his solo performances, his group Gravity was signed to a major Japanese label and did several tours of Japan and Hawaii. Most recently, Payne went to London to co-write the new Bobby Womack album (Bravest Man in the Universe) along with Damon Albarn of the Gorillaz & Richard Russell, owner of XL recordings (Adelle’s label). It won England’s 2012 Q award for Best album of the year. He feels blessed to have a career that is still growing and where is work is called “play”.
