About Me
Glen Roethel is quite simply one of a kind – a compelling songwriter, wizard guitarist, elegant singer, accomplished producer, in-demand soloist and sideman, founder/producer/creative spark/original lead guitarist and primary songwriter of Gathering Time.
This beloved entertainer is spontaneous and exciting "like 1000 tiny fun bombs going off all at once!" – he is full of surprises, so get ready to sing and dance along!
Glen's songs and music have been heard on nationally syndicated commercial radio, college and international radio, as well as on TV. He has performed his energizing music at events across the U.S. and folks here, in Europe, in China and Japan have all enjoyed his engaging performances which are often commissioned for retreats, benefits, concerts and conferences.
Glen is the house band guitarist for the Posi Awards since 2011, and a two-time Posi Award Nominee in 2014 for his songs "Beautiful Now" and "Family." He also received honors from the 30th Mid-Atlantic Song Contest (MASC), Songwriters' Association of Washington, DC for three songs ("Sweet Cider" [Honorable Mention in the Country / Bluegrass category]; "The Family Tree" [Honorable Mention in the Acoustic / Folk category] and "Dandelion Dreams" (a cowrite with Sue Riley) [Honorable Mention in the Open category].
Glen cowrote two songs on the brand new holiday CD, More Than a Season, released by emPower: "Christmas Is Easy On Me" (a duet, written and performed with Faith Rivera) and "From The Bottom Up" (written with Sue Riley and Megon McDonough). In fact, you can hear Glen'ss guitar, vocal and ukulele performances throughout the CD, and you also may have seen him on an emPower tour in December 2013 promoting this beautiful recording.
Glen's brand new 3rd solo CD, Unfolding (which includes both of his Posi Award nominated titles) is full of songs of personal transformation. He also just released a line of greeting cards focused on comfort for grief and loss. These cards feature original photographs, a CD with the hauntingly beautiful song "Love Is" and lyrics.
