My new project CHILD’S HEART– a extended play CD – is hot off the press and available now! All of the tracks inspire the child within each of us. This R&B/jazz CD is a tribute to my late sister Celeste; a portion of the proceeds from the sale of the CD will go to Carrie’s Touch, a program that assists African American women who are breast cancer survivors. CHILD’S HEART represents the child within each of us…innocence, pure joy, curiosity and unconditional love! Back in the day Celeste was a lead singer in the band Elmer Lee Blues Review. In 1995 she recorded a duet “God Bless The Child” with Elmer Lee Thomas on their Radio Blues CD. With permission from Elmer Lee I am blessed beyond measure to use the track from that CD on this new project. I am singing with my sister in a duet! Nat King Cole and Natalie Cole style….how cool is that?!!!! I start the CD party with my own version of “With A Child’s Heart”. Then we really get down to business with “Grandma’s Hands” – cool Grandma-style that is! The tune “Nature Boy” gives us all a simple lesson about love. “This Little Light of Mine” from my CD – ALL IS WELL reminds us we are all beams of light shining bright! I hope you find CHILD’S HEART as inspiring to you as it was for me, the producer, the talented musicians and all who worked with me to bring it you!
I first let my voice soar when I joined the church choir and began shining as a soloist. Then stepping out in faith, my journey led to my first hit CD single GOD’S EYE IS ON THE SPARROW and then, my first full CD, ALL IS WELL, which includes the 9th IMA Pop Vox song winner “Take My Hand, Precious Lord”. Carol’s other singing credits include performing at the California 2011 Back to Legislation Bash and singing in theatre as a part of Images Theatre Company in Sacramento.
