About Me

Alicia Lemke, a native of Madison, Wisconsin, is an energetic young singer-songwriter. Her unique set of interests—which range from canoeing, snowshoeing and all things nature, to making theater and adventuring with friends—inform her writing and performing of music. Alicia’s extraordinary drive and passion have earned her a scholarship at Berklee College of Music, a growing fan base, and most recently a sponsorship from Gibson Guitars.

Alicia was not always a songwriter; and in fact, happened upon her career by chance. A graduate of Swarthmore College, she earned a degree in theater and biology, played the saxophone, and acquired a US patent before she discovered her love and talent for writing songs. She spent time living in the rainforest of Australia and creating performance art at Swarthmore in search of her real calling. Although she had sung jazz and performed musical theater, it was not until the age of 20 that she picked up an acoustic guitar and wrote her first song. Things started to make sense. Alicia quickly became enchanted with the guitar and began pouring herself into songs. Encouraged by her mentor, the jazz piano great Garry Dial, Alicia auditioned for Berklee College Music and was awarded a scholarship.

Attending Berklee allowed Alicia to find her voice as a songwriter. Her sound is defined by poetic lyrics, finger-picking guitar style, and a graceful, strong voice. Her songs range from heartbreaking to playful and intimately express her own personal struggles and triumphs. Alicia has assembled a band that plays her original music across the Northeast, with recent shows taking her as far as London, Los Angeles, and Miami.

Alicia’s energy is infectious. Her self-awareness and down-to-earth attitude make her a powerful and positive force on stage. Through her songwriting, Alicia seeks to connect with others through an accessible and honest sound.
