This is the 3rd of a series of beautifully produced acoustic compilations by German label Stockfisch Records.  The first CD, “Pearl Diver”, is a mixture of some of David’s earlier works presented in a stripped down, acoustic version.  It is simply stunning.

“More Pearls” is a compilation of some of the songs that shaped David’s musical career and contains acoustic versions of songs such as Lennon and McCartney’s “I Will” and Carol King’s “You’ve got a Friend”.

David Roth fans will want to have all 3 of these CDs in their collection.  They are pure David, his guitar, and his magical voice.

This newest CD, “Will You Come Home” contains many of my favorite David Roth songs.

David is a consummate story teller and is a master weaver of story songs, songs that tell of ordinary people doing extraordinary things.

“Nine Gold Medals” is the heartwarming stories of 9 athletes in a Special Olympics race.  I remember when I helped David with his songbook a few years ago.  I was typing in the lyrics to this song with tears streaming down my face.  This song demonstrates that even those that we often look past have beautiful gifts to share with us.

“How Do You Hold on to Love” is a beautiful song proclaiming both the endurance and the fragility of love.

“Nights at the Chez” is a mesmerizing chronicle of David’s frequent visits to “Chez Paree”, a Chicago nightclub that his father worked at.  At this club, David met many famous musicians and this song is a tribute to the magic and wonder of those days.

I personally own every one of David’s CDs, and I love them all.  David has a way with words that goes right to the heart of the matter.  And, he is gentle and loving and brilliant.  “Will You Come Home” is a sweet, wondrous compilation of some of the most heart centered songs that David has written.  Give yourself the gift of this CD.  You won’t regret it.
