In 2004, Daniel released “Sacred Love”, a CD of prayer songs.  I would wager that the songs from that CD are performed in most of our churches.  I think my congregation knows the whole CD.  So, I am thrilled to report that Daniel has just released “Sacred Love Vol 2”.  You won’t be disappointed.  I’ve listened to little else since I got my copy.  Daniel is a prolific songwriter with the ability to use simple language to trigger complex emotions.  These songs will go right to your heart and they will nestle there.

“Witness” is one of my favorite cuts on the CD.  It has a funky little beat, and, like the other songs on this CD, it will be easy to perform with any mix of musicians.  The lyrics are simple, yet they bring to mind that each day our actions reflect our awareness of the God within.

“Amen” is a beautiful meditative song.  It is a lovely reflection on the power of the single word “amen”.  You will be singing along by the first chorus.

“Inside (To Find My God)” reminds us that we have all that we need inside of ourselves.  Daniel cleverly inserts a couple of titles of some of his best known prayer songs “Sacred Love” and “More Than Enough”.  It is a catchy tune.  It is the first tune that Daniel taught a group of us on a PosiPalooza tour and I’m been humming it ever since.  That’s three months of humming before the CD was released!

One of the songs has an island beat, one has a Middle Eastern flair, and there are a couple of rockers, however, the majority of the songs are contemplative.  They invite the listener into silence, into prayer, into meditation, into communion with the God of their understanding.  It is calming and tranquil, like the wind dancing through the canyons Daniel loves so much, or the breeze rippling across a pool of water.

Daniel often writes in huge bursts of creativity.  He tells how when he took a three month sabbatical to Moab, he wrote 100 songs, some of which became the popular “Water” CD.  In creating this CD, Daniel tells how he was recovering from a minor illness that kept him in bed for a week.  When he got up, he wrote 30 songs.  Good grief!  When I’m sick for a week I crawl from the couch to the bed.  I am in awe.  This CD is another fabulous work of art from a very gifted, generous artist.  Your community will be blessed with this music.  You won’t want to take it out of your personal CD player. (Since you won’t want to loan out your personal copy, better get 2 copies!)
