This is the newest offering from VA based Claudia Carawan and it is a great CD.  Claudia has a lot of soul and it’s reflected in her rhythms and vocals.  She is just plain funky!

“I Claim a Blessing” is a great affirmation about choosing how we’re going to start each day, even before we get out of bed.  We are invited to “look for the good and claim it”… I love this sentiment.

“Yellow Brick Road” uses an island beat to remind us that we are all on the journey of a lifetime and we never know what magic our daily path will unfold for us.

“Lifeline” was co-written with powerhouse Harold Payne.  All about empowerment and self love, we are reminded that having one person who believes in you can make all of the difference. We all have people in our lives whose love and support have enabled us to become who we are today.  I want to look around and perhaps find someone who’s lonely and could use a lifeline.  You never know how one small, insignificant action can empower someone for life.

“Now You Know”, co-written with “Song Guru” Karen Taylor Good, is a song about losing a loved one. But rather than being emotionally heavy, the song asks questions of the person who has gone on.  The listener is left with a wistful feeling of knowing that “There’s more to life than meets the eye and the answers come with our goodbye”.

“Clouds” is a lovely track, reflecting on the dreams of youth.  Most of us can remember watching fluffy clouds float across the sky and looking for faces in them.  We are reminded of the continuing presence of the Divine in each of our daily lives, something that we don’t have to look outside of ourselves to find.

Claudia calls her music “Positive soulful music and inspirations” and this collection of songs is about finding and sustaining joy.  And, believe me, you’ll be joyful while you listen to these positive songs and hopefully, that joy will sustain you throughout your day.
