Empower Me Up “Prosper Power” reviewed by Sue Riley
Anyone who has planned music for New Thought churches will readily agree that some of the toughest music to find is songs that fit with our belief about prosperity. What’s up with that? We should be swimming in prosperity songs, but that hasn’t been the case up until now!
I am overjoyed to share this CD with you. There are 15 fabulous songs on here and the theme of the whole CD is prosperity. These are empowering affirmations, put to music.
In late April, EmPower Music and Arts and I Am Power brought Jana Stanfield, David Roth, Karen Taylor Good, Faith Rivera, Harold Payne, Sue Riley, and Richard Mekdeci together to co-write songs for this CD. It was our first songwriting retreat, and it was a huge success, as you’ll hear when you listen to this CD. You won’t be able to sit still when you pop this CD into your player. This music is hip, positive, life changing and just plain FUN!
Rhythm master Harold Payne starts us out with “the Power of I Am”, a song about the law of mind action. Harold states “I am whole, I am free, I am everything I think I can be…”
Richard Mekdeci and Faith Rivera co-wrote a grooving song “Let it Out” which encourages each of us to release our thoughts of limitations and lack and know that within each of us is the power to create a beautiful life. The lyrics state “I have within me, greater power than I have used, I am ready to Let it Out”
Faith and Harold wrote a song praising the beauty of oneself. “I am Beautiful” declares “I am feeling great today, and I’m shining light all over”
How can you go wrong with that as your opening line? What a great affirmation for young people concerned with their body image.
All of the songs are written in the first person, “I Am”, and are presented in a wide variety of styles, from dance, to country to pop. This is not a compilation CD, in that the songwriters are rarely singing their own song. It has been interpreted by Nashville producer Matt Wilder, who has recorded Jana Stanfield for years and who brought in some of Nashville’s best studio singers to cover the songs. He has a magic touch and has brought a wide range of instruments and grooves to the music.
I haven’t taken this CD out of my car stereo since I got it. It is happy music, with great beats, wonderful lyrics, and powerful ideas. I’m arriving to my destinations powered up!
This CD is the first in a series of CDs meant to provide tools for self empowerment. You can find it here in our store. Check out iampower.com for more information.
