RSS means Really Simple Syndication. What it can do for you is autopost everything from one spot to another. It's great tool for increasing your net presence – anyone who has talked to me recently knows how big I am on promoting that and can happily skip the next paragraph.
I'm going to tell you a story about Bob. Bob sells his books to libraries. But not all libraries buy their books from the same company so it's in Bob's best interest to have his book represented by as many book sellers as possible. It's a lot of work trying to keep up with all of the sellers. But one day, Bob finds a book seller that will happily sell his book to libraries and to other book sellers too. The best part is that this seller will do it for free. Bob would be insane to not take advantage of this service!
RSS will take your blog entries from one place and happily put them other places, too. It allows you to promote to a wider audience, and increases your presence on the internet. It's a great marketing idea.
To take your blog from emPower Music&Arts and put it on Myspace, you first need to find out your blog's “feed” address.
Log in at emPower. Go to your profile (see the profile tab at the top left) and scroll down. Click on “view latest blog entries.” The url from that page is your blog. Add /feed to the end of it and there you go.
IE: Mine is http://empowerma.com/blog/55/feed
Still following?
Now go to your Myspace and log in. Go here: http://www.myspace.com/rssreader
Click on “Add this App”. Now go into the settings page for the RSS Reader. I find it easiest to just click the link http://www.myspace.com/rssreader again. You'll get a neat box to fill in where you enter the emPower blog feed address and the title for your blog.
Click save and you're done!
What if you use Facebook? It's just as easy. Log in to your Facebook and go here: http://www.facebook.com/apps/application.php?id=5315590686 Just follow the steps and use your emPower blog feed address to create a feed on your Facebook page.
I've tried to make this easy to understand, but if you're not tech savvy or if I've simply managed to confuse you, I'd be happy to assist with your setup. Just email me at membership@empowerma.com
As always, thanks for reading,
