Written by Jeanette Lesada and Matthew Lancelle, this book allows us a unique view of the world. Matthew is a 14 year old with autism. For the past  7 years, Jeanette, a graphic artist, has worked as Matthew's therapist. At first, she worked with Matthew through the Wisconsin Early Autism Program, but when funding for the program was cut and she lost her job, Jeanette made the decision to continue working with Matthew as a volunteer.

Oftentimes, children with autism need an alternative to traditional communication. With Jeanette's guidance, Matthew drew sketches about particular topics, the drawings allowing him to enjoy the freedom of expression that he was unable to find in other ways. And in time, Jeanette saw a potential in the sketchbook that has changed both of their lives.

Her compilation of Matthew's sketches, “Sundays with Matthew,” was published by the Autism Asperger Publishing Company in 2006. Written for elementary age students, it explains the differences in autistic children, with a special message about what is truly important in life.

As part of promoting the book, Jeanette and Matthew both made numerous public appearances.  While there is no cure for autism, therapy at an early age will allow these children to develop beyond the restrictions of the illness. Throughout Matthew's therapy and the book writing and promotion process, his attention span and behavioral problems have improved a tremendous amount.

Jeanette is already working with him on writing skills which will allow him to write his next book.
