I love this new commercial. I have to admit, I didn't even catch the sponsor until I searched online (it's The Foundation for a Better Life), but I loved this commercial just the same. The boy, decked out in his baseball finest, proclaims, "I'm the greatest hitter in the world!" before tossing the ball into the air, swinging the bat, and missing by a mile. He tries again. "I'm the greatest hitter in the world!" Tosses again, misses again. Third time, same results, and he looks to be pretty disheartened...before he realizes that he was not only the guy who swung and missed, he was also the guy who tossed those impossible-to-hit balls. "I'm the greatest pitcher in the world!" he beams.
I like this message. A LOT. Cudos to the writer of this commercial for putting it all in the proper perspective and for making me re-think my habit of fast-forwarding through all-things-commercial, in this age of TIVO. It's not all just Plop-Plop-Fizz-Fizz, sometimes there's actually a pitch worth catching.
