I just ran across this quote from new age spiritualist John Harricharan and thought it was worth repeating:

"Whenever problems seem to get the best of me, whenever I feel them closing in on me, I go to a quiet place that lies somewhere in my soul. I do not reason, analyze or think. Those will come later. I simply go. From this place of silence, I garner strength and inspiration to stand firm in the face of fire, to be calm in the midst of thunder. When I emerge, the world has not changed, but I have. And in changing, a whole new world is born."

Interesting!

My husband would agree with Mr. Harricharan. He likes to start and end his day with periods of absolute silence, and insists that he doesn't spend that time thinking about anything in particular.

Me, I was sold on using repetitive music to "find my center" before I was old enough to know that such a phenomenon was possible. I would sometimes come home from school and embark on a marathon session of wearing out a 45 rpm record--always one at a time, over and over and over--on my Swinger portable phonograph. Drove my family nuts. My sister use to say I was "off putting myself into a trance again" and, in hindsight, she wasn't that far off base.
