I was packing to play in Arkansas last week when a friend asked me about my music. I wasn't fully satisfied with my response however, so I thought I would make a blog entry and see if anyone wanted to discuss the topic:)
My response to her was:
"Positive music has lyrics that empower or uplift, melodies that inspire, and energy that speaks to people who are not afraid to look inside."
But I feel perhaps there is something missing in this description, for example the creative process. The other problem is that you could apply this to some other genres.
Maybe there are no words to describe positive music, maybe you just have to experience it.
What are your thoughts?
As A Singer I have found it quite rewarding for the writer to tell me what was their Intention and Inspiration when setting the lyrics. With this insite I can better deliver the message it brings to me. Daniel Nahmod has accomplished this quite well within his "Sacred Love" Album Song Book with his Composer Notes. Daniel's 2nd Sacred Love will be released in July.
