Here's an interesting organization I hadn't heard of before. The American Music Therapy Association promotes the "clinical" use of "music interventions" to establish music therapy programs for individuals in hospitals, clinics, schools, and private practices. These assessments are carried out by accredited music therapists, which is something else I hadn't heard of before, who are certified by the Certification Board for Music Therapists.
According to the website, music therapy has been recognized since 1994 as a fully reimbursable service, if the treatment meets four criteria including a doctor's prescription and a documented treatment plan. What a fascinating alternative to conventional rehabilitation.
