The Ox is a powerful beast, a symbol of stability and fortitude. He is fearless in the face of hard work and friendly even under the strain of a yoke. In him you will find perseverance and a strength of character unparalleled.
What fitting imagery as we enter 2009 in the shadow of financial crisis. We are ready to take up the mantel of the American Dream, that through work and faith we will stand strong. Together we will make the world a better place.
Welcome to the year of the Ox.

There is an interesting article in today's Toronto Sun about this very thing, Mrs. Z! According to Dora Nipp, CEO of the Multicultural History Society of Ontario, Obama--at 47--is an "ox," characterized by "stability and fortitude," as you mentioned. He also suggests that this may be indicative of a year of great political strides, because it was an ox-year when Reagan met with Russian President Mikhail Gorbachev, which contributed to the end of the cold war.
