2009 Report for Publishers

Overview of 2009

2009 was the first full year of our Music Rights program, providing copyright compliance for our New Thought Churches. During the first year, we signed up 60 churches. Most of those churches have just renewed their license. During our first year, we paid out over $3000 to songwriters and publishers, while recouping half of the money needed to set up the licensing program. This is Awesome!

Future Plans

We plan to have every song that is licensed through Music Rights available for purchase as a download through our emPower store. Music Directors are constantly looking for new songs, and this would be a great way for them to find resources and to generate more income for you. We’d also like to include the sheet music for each song if it is available. You may send us PDF files of any sheet music you may have of any songs in your catalog.

We also plan to extend the licensing to cover live-streaming and archiving of Sunday services, where your music is used. We are currently researching how this will be done.

How You Can Help:   

Spread the Word!

There are many churches who don’t know about the license, even though we staff a table at the Unity Ministers conference and have flyers at all of our emPower events. If you would be willing to spread the word as you travel to churches, just let us know. We would send you a downloadable flyer. If a church lists you as the person who told them about emPower Music Rights, we will send you a “Thank You!” in the amount of $25.
